Would you like to tour the only wasabi plantation in the Mediterranean?
At Yamaaoi we organize guided tours for groups. We only do them a few months a year and for limited groups, so… don’t miss out!
Description of the visit (approximate duration 2.5 hours)
The visit is divided into spaces for theoretical and practical dissemination, on the cultivation of wasabi and the gastronomic characteristics of the plant. It ends with your tasting, in different forms of preparation.
- Introductory meeting: The Yamaaoi Wasabi project and a brief explanation of the plant and its distribution in the world.
- Visit to the crops: Itinerary through the plantations in the cultivation areas. Agronomic approach and harvest of whole wasabi plant.
- Gastronomic applications: Cleaning and preparation of the plant for the consumption of its different parts. Explanation of the gastronomic characteristics and various uses of each part of the plant.
- Tasting of freshly harvested wasabi: Grating of wasabi in different types of Japanese graters (traditional and modern) and tasting of the parts of the plant.
